The Turquoise band books feature more complex stories and sentence structure. Readers will love the
character-led books which include: Young Robin Hood, Adventure Kids, and Sharma Family. The inside cover notes for parents, carers and teaching assistants are probably the most fun and vibrant we have seen so it is no wonder children are enjoying them. Bug Notes clearly show children what they will be practising with a list of interesting words (e.g. breathe, ice and spirit). Top Tips encourage children and parents to practise skills – such as ‘encourage your child to use the picture’ or ‘talk about the front cover’. Story Detectives is a good way of
focusing children on a character or event in the story which, in turn, helps with comprehension. A signpost directs children to the back cover and Bug Time where fun is foremost and children are given engaging challenges that encourage them to go back over the book as well as an extension activity (Draw it, Make it, Try it etc.). The extra notes on the inside and back covers are useful to embed learning and appealing to children.
