Great Asian Civilisations
Understanding how different ancient civilisations sit on a time line in relation to each other is difficult because of the time scales involved and the degree of overlapping. My own efforts to map this out on the library floor got messier and messier and then I realised that I needed to clarify my understanding of where they sat in space as well as in time. In fact, concentrating on one continent at a time helped me to secure the chronology in each area first before moving on to compare them. This collection provides the opportunity to compare and contrast the Ancient Sumer, Indus Valley Civilisation, Ancient China and Early Islamic Civilisations and to put them into geographical context.
