Explore with Biff, Chip and Kipper: Purple

This set of 6 Purple band books (ORT level 8) is carefully levelled and fully decodable for children who have by now been introduced to all of the phonics in Phases 1-5 of Letters and Sounds. At this level the books contain a  much richer use of vocabulary and more complex storylines. Explore is a reading scheme that covers book bands Lilac to Gold and offers three pairs of topic-linked books at each level to encourage the reading of different text types as well as across the curriculum subjects. In The Urgent Message, the magic key glows and transports Biff, Chip and Nadim off on an adventure where they meet a queen and a slightly grumpy one at that. In the  paired non-fiction book Smoke Signals to Smartphones explore how pigeon post, Morse Code and even smoke signals were used to convey messages over long distances and compare to smartphones today.
