Story Detectives is a good way of focusing children on a character or event in the story which, in turn, helps with comprehension. A signpost directs children to the back cover and Bug Time where fun is foremost and children are given fun challenges that encourage them to go back over the book as well as an extension activity (Draw it, Make it, Try it etc.) or Memory Mangle, which encourages children to recall information after reading. The extra notes on the inside and back covers provide useful activities to embed learning and they have great child appeal.
