Pink A books contain books that offer a Chant and Chatter approach to reading, helping children develop fluency. No common exception words are used in Pink A books. Pink A books introduce Phase 2 phonemes /s/ /a/ /t/ /p/ /i/ /n/ /m/ /d/ and repetitive cvc words eg ‘Sam pats Pip” in the book ‘Pip!’. Pink B books introduce the phonemes and digraphs of Phase 2 gradually starting with /g/ /o/ and building up to /g/ /o/ /c/ /k/ /e/ /u/ /r/ /h/ /b/ /f/ /l/ ck, ff, ll, ss.
