This week ( January 28th to February 4th) is National Storytelling Week.
The annual event, held on the first week of February was devised to increase awareness of storytelling and to educate the public of the value of doing so.
Activities throughout the week encourage participation throughout the community, through both the creation and enjoyment of storytelling, and with the sentiment that storytelling can be enjoyed at whatever age.
It is widely recognised that storytelling is particularly important in developing the literacy skills of children, and guided reading resources are particularly effective in aiding this skill.
We have a wide and varied range of guided reading materials which help teachers and librarians deliver sessions that are both successful and fun!
All our materials are carefully selected by our experienced product managers, and reflect both the varying interest and attainment levels amongst pupils.
We recognise just how integral storytelling can be in children’s literacy, which is why we are such big supporters of National Storytelling Week.
We’d love to know how your schools and libraries are celebrating this week, and anything exciting you have planned!
